all hallows eve

Mrs Lydia Deetz-Beetlegeuse?

Live people ignore the strange and unusual. I, myself, am strange and unusual.

This is my I'm really sick on the couch costume but I still want to dress up to watch movies. I came down with a horrible cold a few days ago, still not fully recovered. Used a chip clip as a hair clip sick, just dreadful.  My hands and feet are icicles even though I'm cuddled up under blankets and cozy clothes! I blame the Hashimotos. And this cold old house. I'm still trying to get into the spirit with as many traditions as possible..the epic movie marathon included Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, and Arsenic and Old Lace. All musts in my book! Homemade popcorn balls too!
My friends think my staircase looks like the one in Beetlejuice!
Complete with ripped down wallpaper haha

Are you holed up somewhere with a Ouija board, candles, portable record player..thought so. Knew you were cooler than me haha
I did watch the new AHS..what the what?! Gotta get kooky on Halloween, I'll never look at Babe the same way again..

Wherever you are I hope your Halloween's a happy one!

the clash

I want you to notice
When I'm not around
creep

Ever put on something that you think matches perfectly and realize it's completely clashing?
That's this shirt. To my human eyes this weird ocher-ish color matched the leaves in this dress, it came off looking more pumpkin spice on camera..drat. They look awesome together hanging in my closet though! haha My fortune cookie said it perfectly-

To have a beautiful life you have to make some beautiful mistakes

perfect coat hook!

We discovered a new tree at one of our favorite parks, the Honey Locust!
It's near a little river and has the gnarliest looking massive spikes protruding from an otherwise normal looking tree..there were black banana looking things all over the ground under it too, what a weirdo!

Honey Locust facts( from wiki)

The name derives from the sweet taste of the legume pulp, which was used for food by Native American people, and can also be fermented to make beer.

The strongly scented cream-colored flowers appear in late spring. The fruit of the Honey locust is a flat legume (pod) that matures in early autumn.

These thorns are thought to have evolved to protect the trees from browsing Pleistocene megafauna

Pleistocene megafauna is the set of species of large animals that lived on Earth during the Pleistocene epoch and became extinct in a Quaternary extinction event. These species appear to have died off as humans expanded, larger islands lost the vast majority of their larger and all of their largest mammals.  Four theories have been given for these extinctions: hunting by the spreading humans,[1] climatic change, spreading disease, and an impact from an asteroid or comet,[2] a combination of which is also possible.

I can just imagine the amazing creatures that used to roam these lands, wish I could go back in time!

Have you guys been watching American Horror Story?! This season is extra creepy/awesome..loving the 60's flashbacks.

Hope you're having a great week!

kitchen comforts

Some snaps of the little details that make my kitchen one of my favorite places, it's coming together slowly but surely! I like to take my time with all of the house work/decorating to keep my sanity..the stories she could tell! Like who painted bright orange over two layers of old wallpaper in this kitchen of mine..luckily I saw potential in this fixer upper and sort of knew what I was getting into haha Over 150 years old and over 2,000 sq ft, every inch needed tons of tlc..

retro aprons

Falkor
Nearly everything is vintage from thrift stores, flea markets..and perfectly imperfect. Just how I like it, things that are too nice make me nervous.

old linen napkins

Thanks for taking a peak into this space of mine!

weekend winsome

I used to love to post these little recaps religiously every Sunday night, I haven't done one in the longest! I blame my bad blogging on the broken down laptop. I swear I was so much more productive when I could watch tv/netflix and do work..being in my studio is too secluded!

tasty treats-

Do you know the joys of jello 123? Luke has this desert down.

Remember the Book It! program in school?  I used to go crazy for the personal pan cheese pizza. Luke's been trying to get me to read The Count of Monte Cristo aloud before bed. I made it through a few chapters, I earned it. haha
(favorite thing in the 90s scholastic book club was the mineral book with specimens)

Lu's getting so big, like a teenager haha he's 4lbs now!

little black bean toes

this was my life this morning haha there's a bunny in that mix too!

whomp fest

watching-

Saturday morning Luke and I got sucked into watching a "Too Cute" marathon on animal planet. Baby animals and a whole episode on sloths!! I adore their perma smile, these people literally have my dream job!

Buttercup the sloth is the coolest.

Did you guys watch The Walking Dead premiere tonight?! So excited that I was actually caught up with a show enough to watch it "live" haha I'm always late to the party.

Hope you had a great weekend!

dreamy

I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
Dream

The Smashing Pumpkins are coming to town this month but I'm low on funds and tickets are expensive..hearing Mayonaise live would be the greatest. It's the first SP song I remember hearing, I was instantly in love. One of my all time favorites! 90's music..it just gets me.

A fall picnic at my favorite spot..60 and sunny! Perfection.

In my quest for pastel hair I made a stop at magenta, hoping for pastel pink next..what better month for pink hair?! My grandma Nola was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and passed away within just a few weeks after they found it..the day before my birthday. One of my favorite people ever.

I can never get it quite blonde enough, I chickened out at reddish

Speaking of my least favorite c word..I had a biopsy done on the baby toe spot. Not as scary as I thought, if I can go to the doctor and get checked out anyone can! Now I have to wait 10 days for the results, waiting is the worst.

I've been mostly hermiting away in the house so this day was a welcome release. Fresh air and sunshine! I swear I've watched almost every interesting show on netflix, I'm totally caught up on The Walking Dead and now I'm kind of in love with Once upon a time. Fairy tales and the battle of good vs evil. There's a scene where "dreamy" the dwarf turns into "grumpy" when his dreams are crushed. I always want to be dreamy!

Happy Tuesday!

French onion..it's soup season! I told Luke I would make at least 4 homemade soups this month..

 chocolate chip

Still dealing with the family issues..trying to stay upbeat. I can't let it ruin my favorite season! I have a Dr. appt tomorrow and I'm kind of stressing, a weird little spot on my baby toe is getting a deeper look. I'm pretty terrified of doctors and hospitals, hope all goes well!

Have a great week!
