midweek menagerie

a collection of thoughts and things

thrifty finds-

Picked up this 70's dressmaking book to add to my collection, I've managed to find quite a few great vintage sewing books! I also found this lovely vintage fabric in a pretty autumnal print, I adore the tan background and rust, mustard, and olive tiny florals. I'm hoping to make a dress in a similar shape to my favorite above but modified with short sleeves and a cream peter pan collar! (mom made things in the 90s(puffy paint shirts&embellished straw hats) and taught me simple sewing when I was little..my favorite place to shop for craft supplies was an old Victorian house that sold me fabric scraps in all different designs..one of the first things I made was custom scrunchies for my school friends.)

love the scalloped edge on these pale yellow gloves

apple picking-

Luke and I went to our local orchard for apple picking and it was the most perfect fall day! We've been having a staycation this week and just hanging out and visiting the places we love around town. We're going to get sushi for lunch and make a fall feast later with homemade apple pie, and hot apple cider..love fall food!

I had this song in my head the whole time..

like an apple on a tree
hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
but you picked me

I hope everyone is having a lovely week!

The first days of fall

I wired some of the wildflowers I'd picked together to create a fresh flower crown..sometimes you just need to wear flowers in your hair!

midweek menagerie

a collection of thoughts and things..

officially autumn-
with just hours away from the autumn equinox and a crisp chill in the air I think it's safe to say that it's finally fall. Autumn is my favorite time of the year and I can't wait for hot apple cider, layers, and changing leaves to name a few!

hanging out -

with Luke and the animals..watching funny shows.

issues-

growing up I used to hang out in the public library reading all of my favorite magazines

workin it-

I rediscovered this yoga kit that I bought about a year ago and I'm really loving it! My body just felt like it needed to be stretched/toned and this workout is perfect, I feel stronger already!  I'd forgotten how much I love yoga, I think I'll be doing a mixture of this and walking this fall!

It's on sale for 14.99 on the Gaiam site!

call me Wednesday-
I loved her kind of morbid demeanor and Victorian goth appearance.
The Addams Family

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

dreary

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary; It rains, and the wind in never weary; The vine still clings to the mouldering wall, But at every gust the dead leaves fall, And the day is dark and dreary- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Portishead-roads

It was one of those perfectly dreary raining days today..I love this fall-like weather! We took our umbrellas out and walked around our neighborhood for a bit enjoying the crisp early morning air and had coffee on the deck. We live in a house built in the 1860's in the historic district in town and I love walking down the original cobblestone streets and admiring all of the beautiful old houses. They have so much charm and character!

Gloomy overcast days give me a chance to wear my favorite fall trench

My favorite vintage pagoda umbrella, I love the colors and pretty florals!

It was the perfect day to catch up on reading my vintage books, I've collected a ton!

I hope everyone is having a lovely week!

weekend winsome

I

I really wanted to see the midnight showing of The NeverEnding Story at the historic Tivoli theater in St.Louis but I ended up falling asleep and missing it! Drat. This is one of my favorite childhood movies and Atreyu may have been my very first crush.  We ended up seeing "Our Idiot Brother" the next day at the little old theater in town. As we were coming up the deck our little hummingbird friend fluttered about around the empty feeder. He was pretty sad about the lack of nectar and zipped away after just a few seconds as I scrambled to grab my camera. I'll catch that bird on film one day!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

dark days

You Say Party -dark days

Ugh. My internet has been out all week..I feel like I missed so much! What did I ever do before the internet?!

In other news my pretty vintage bag came in that I won from a giveaway..it brightened my week!

We passed by one of my favorite little buildings, I just love the rusty red color and little white flowers.

We had the most amazing weather, it was in the high 60's all week! Luke and I had a little date and did some thrifting/vintage shopping and chowed down on some yummy sushi. I'm so glad I enjoyed being outside the past few days without the internet, it's back to almost 100 next week..is it fall yet?!

scored these amazing dead stock vintage cat eye sunnies!

Zizi was mad she didn't get any sushi...

I hope everyone had an amazing week!!
