Film Friday

The Postman Always Rings Twice-1946

A film noir with a classic fatal attraction storyline this movie is filled with romance and deception. A mysterious young traveler, Frank(John Garfield), with severe wanderlust happens upon a sleepy town where he finds a position at the local diner. It's owned by a penny pinching older gent named Nick along with his stunning platinum young wife,Cora, played by the gorgeous Lana Turner. The handsome drifter starts secret flirtations with the beautiful wife and they began a sultry affair. Cora eventually realizes that she's in a loveless marriage and needs to escape. She convinces Frank to set her husband up for an "accident". I love that when her character turns from sweet and naive to dark minded she's wearing black clothes.

Frank- "I can sell anybody"..Cora-"That's what you think"

One of my favorite old hollywood beauties,Lana is a cross between Katherine Heigl and Marilyn Monroe..she also shares my birthday(February 8th) and height(5'3)!

I love the epic whir of music when they first kiss and her deadpan reapplication of lipstick throughout the film. Her wardrobe features bright white figure enhancing ensembles and a dramatic white turban.  In one instance she wears the most gorgeous vintage skirted swimsuit with a structured blazer, so glam!  Another a fantastic outfit features a slim pencil skirt, silk blouse, beret ,and gloves...all in white.
