We've been celebrating the warmer weather around here lately! Outdoor projects and planting seeds..the garden is filling out everyday. I was so pleased that my strawberry patch came back! This spring has put on quite the show, so much life everywhere. I recently watched The Secret Garden for the first time in forever..still one of my all time favorites.(dickon was my dude)

Yucca plants have been at the front of every house growing up, love them indoors and out. I got my first fiddle leaf fig plants this fall and I can't seem to get any of them to grow over a few feet. I continue to almost kill them on a regular basis, just can't seem to figure out its formula. Good thing spring always makes things green and fresh again. This sweet three tier vintage plant stand is newly thrifted and perfect for the back entrance.

Everything is in full bloom around here, the most wonderful time of the year! We had a huge pear tree in our front yard growing up, I miss those fluttery petals that covered the ground. Magnolia's are my very favorite, the best part about spring. They always remind me of grandma Nola, she told me that her full name was Esther Mag-Nola, just like that. Magnolia? I'm still not sure. She was quite the character.
I'm waiting to see the total lunar eclipse/blood moon. I totally dreamt of an adult summer camp in space last night, I was all set to go when I remembered that I'm terrified of flying and ended up staying home ha! It's the residuals from never getting to go away to camp or school trips. Except that one time I went with grandma to an inner city camp and learned how to do the butterfly dance and make a tooled leather cuff. It was the most fun.
One of our favorite things to during the warmer weather months is fruit picking at the orchard. Its one of those little things we've done together our entire relationship and we recently celebrated our 5 yr wedding anniversary! Time flies. It's just outside of the city and all of the open space makes you feel like you're in the country. I remember coming here with my grandma Betty as a little girl.

We always like to have little competitions or bet on who's right..the person with the best blackberry specimen got treated to lunch. I won. haha! I'm just shorter and closer to the earth, and better at hunting. It's the thrifting training I swear.
There really is nothing like picking fresh fruit, and making something sweet.

I saw an adorable photo today and thought of the movie, The Long, Long Trailer. It's a laugh out loud one that totally reminded me of our relationship, and how we never ever fight..only on road trips when we're arguing about directions! I don't know why it's so fun but it is. Because we're snapping at each other and as soon as we get to where we're going we start laughing about the fight and making fun of ourselves. That's the secret.

We haven't been on vacation in a while, staying home and working on the house renovation instead. It's our five year wedding anniversary at the end of August and It's been just enough time since we last visited Chicago, we used to go a few times a year and even got engaged at the top of the Ferris wheel on Navy Pier.

A few months ago I mentioned my health struggles and I've been trying out a new thyroid medicine..that made me gain all of the weight back that I worked so hard to take off last spring! That's 25 lbs! I'm a petite person. And I didn't feel any positive effects, ugh.(and my hair started falling out) More depressing than depression. Nothing like when your body betrays you. I'm a bit of a control freak too, and feeling out of control of my body is getting to me. I'm working on finding a natural way to manage my Hashimoto's symptoms, I just want to feel like my normal happy self..it's tough.
