midweek menagerie

A collection of thoughts and things..

It was Luke's birthday(28!) so we went to see a movie at our historic theater in town that was built in the 1920's and is so amazing inside! I adore the deco details and I want to get some photos of the inside soon, it has the most amazing old dark red velvet curtain that slowly lifts when it's movie time!  The admission was 27¢ for the balcony and 36¢ for the main floor, 4.50 matinees are still a steal. Originally a vaudeville and silent movie theater!

  went to dinner at the new place in town.. cucumber martini, my new favorite drink!

We stopped by the farmer's market for some fresh veggies, I love being able to buy from the actual people that grow the produce and supporting the local farms. Our little garden is growing everyday, we even have little baby watermelons..can't wait to pick fruits and veggies from our own yard!

It was a super stormy weekend so most of our time was spent indoors watching old movies.We watched a few french films from the 60's. The food at our local french cafe is so yummy and I love the candle lit coziness and the beatiful old stained glass..mmm crepes! We were able to get our bikes out for a bit before the rain came in, I love riding on the old cobblestone streets through our neighborhood..it's like going back in time.

This weekend was spent at the flea market searching for vintage treasures, working on the house, and watching the lightning bugs take over the yard. I've been looking for the perfect basket for my retro bike and flowy maxi skirts are so effortless for summer, love them!

I've been searching for pretty summery lace pieces and the perfect straw boater hat, I really want a vintage one from the 20's! I also developed an intense love for Nutella while on vacation in Charleston. I finally tried it for the first time and ended up eating it almost every morning on a half bagel with strawberry slices..yum! This weekend was spent working inside and the weather has been a bit gloomy so The Civil Wars Falling made for the perfect soundtrack.
